Artist Statement
Photography is a “painting of light.”
Then, what is born between photography and “myself”?
It is “my interpretation,” the meaning I give to the photograph.
In art photography, it is not the photograph itself that holds meaning,
but the interpretation that is bestowed upon it.
In my interpretation, my photographs are “projections of emotion.”
Through these projections, I become aware that I am standing in this world.
But what, truly, is emotion?
Emotion is a layer of memory — the self —
that extends from the past into the present and rises from within it.
And what connects these continuous layers of the self?
It is the “trust” I have received
from those who have believed in me.
That is why I want to express,
through my photographs, “trust” —
the earnest act of connecting with the world.
To take a photograph is
to affirm that I am breathing within the world.
Emotion is not something that exists within me;
it appears as the world itself, right before me.
And I gently scoop it up with my camera.

写真とは、「光の画」である。
では、写真と“私”のあいだで生まれるものは何か。
それは、写真に対する“私の解釈”、意味づけである。
芸術写真においては、
撮った写真そのものではなく、そこに与えられた解釈こそが意味を持つ。
私の解釈では、私の写真は「感情の投影」である。
その投影を通じて、私はこの世界に立っていることを、自覚している。
そもそも感情とは何だろう。
感情とは、
過去から現在へと連なる記憶の層＝自己、そこから立ち上がるもの。
では、その連なる自己を繋ぎ止めているものは？
それは、
私を信じてくれた人たちから受け取った“信頼”である。
だから私は、
“世界と一生懸命接続する姿勢＝「信頼」”を、
写真で表現したいのだと思う。
写真を撮ることは、
世界の中で自分が息をしている証を得るようなものだ。
感情は私の中にあるのではなく、
世界そのものとして、そこに現れてくる。
それを私は、カメラで掬い取るのだ。
