Artist Statement
Photography is, literally, a “picture of light.”
So what emerges between photography and myself?
It is my interpretation—the attribution of meaning.
In art photography, it is not the photograph itself that holds meaning,
but the interpretation we give it.
In my view, my photographs are projections of emotion.
Through these projections, I confirm my place in the world.
But what is emotion?
It rises from the layered memories that bind past to present—
from the self itself.
And what holds this continuous self together?
Trust—received from those who believed in me.
This is why I try, through photography,
to express an earnest effort to connect with the world—
an effort I call trust.

写真とは、「光の画」である。
では、写真と“私”のあいだで生まれるものは何か。
それは、写真に対する“私の解釈”、意味づけである。
芸術写真においては、
撮った写真そのものではなく、そこに与えられた解釈こそが意味を持つ。
私の解釈では、私の写真は「感情の投影」である。
その投影を通じて、私はこの世界に立っていることを、自覚している。
そもそも感情とは何だろう。
感情とは、
過去から現在へと連なる記憶の層＝自己、そこから立ち上がるもの。
では、その連なる自己を繋ぎ止めているものは？
それは、
私を信じてくれた人たちから受け取った“信頼”である。
だから私は、
“世界と一生懸命接続する姿勢＝「信頼」”を、
写真で表現したいのだと思う。
